Thiruppavai- Day 9-ThoomaNi maaDatthu

Raagam: Hamir Kalyani

As if she is fed up of calling out to her friends, AnDaal now seeks the help of their mothers. "Maami! Your daughter sleeps like she was under some spell. Or she must be deaf that she can't hear my beckoning!".

A note about the usage of this Raagam. This is one of the very few Carnatic songs I have heard in Hamir Kalyani which is basically a Hindustani Raagam. If I am wrong, please shout!

Nice one Adithi. I think this also goes by "Aamir kalyani" since there is no "Ha" in tamil. Saanthamu lekha.. is one song that comes to my mind in this raaga. I think this was also in a movie (Bhanumathi sang this??) Google search shows a few songs in this raaga (Sudha Raghunathan - thillana, TNS etc.) but may be not so many as you said? - Uthra

Very beautiful singing akka !

A clarification - seems that Hamirkalyani is our own ragam .. She is a bhashanga raga - meaning M1 (Shudha Madhyama) is also used and a daughter of Kalyani ..
